Is there anything better than a dog who thinks you were put on Earth to cuddle them?

Listen, I like to think I'm a reasonable person. I understand that cats have their fans, birds can be fascinating, and some people even keep reptiles because, apparently, they enjoy being silently judged by a lizard. But when it comes to dogs, I completely lose any sense of objectivity. I am, without question, the biggest dog person I know.

There's just something magical about a pup who sees you as their favorite place in the world. You sit down for one second, and suddenly there's a warm body leaning against your leg. You try to make the bed, and they're already lying in the middle of it. You walk from the couch to the kitchen, and congratulations, you've got a furry shadow following your every move. Personal space? Dogs have never heard of it, and honestly, I wouldn't want them to.

Dogs have this incredible ability to make you feel like the most important person in the world without even trying. Mine could be deeply asleep, snoring like they pay the bills around here, but the second I stand up, they're awake and following me to see what we're doing next. Going to the kitchen? They're coming. Walking to another room? Obviously they're invited. Sitting on the couch? Suddenly there are two paws on my lap because, apparently, I looked like I needed company. I never asked for a permanent shadow, but I honestly can't imagine life without one.

That's what makes dogs so easy to love. They don't need a special occasion to remind you they're happy you're around. They'll celebrate you getting home from work, coming back from the grocery store, or even returning from checking the mailbox. Everything is exciting if they get to experience it with you.
